My 2008 Africa Reading List

28 04 2008

Per the instructions on ’siphoning off a few thoughts’, here is my entry into the Africa Reading Challenge.  This list is also permanently lodged on the Reading page

My List
AIDS and Power: Why There Is No Political Crisis, Yet – Alex de Waal
A Dying Colonialism – Franz Fanon
Into Africa – Martin Dugard
The Poisonwood Bible – Barbara Kingsolver
What Is the What – Dave Eggers
Wizard of the Crow – Ngugi Wa’Thiong’O

I’m going to do my very best to stick to this list and not add to it (at least not till next year) or substitute anything, but as with any of my reading lists, it is very likely subject to change.

Franz Freaking Fanon? OMG, how dated. How Sixties. Next thing we know, you’ll be quoting Herbert Marcus, C. Wright Mills and Michael Harrington!

Also, Kingsolver’s book is a novel, a work of fiction.
